Prior to launching a legal career, Donny worked in Hong Kong with an International Merchant Bank for 15 years where he was involved in wide areas of corporate lending and documentation in loan syndication, export credits, mergers and acquisition financing and privatisation. He was transferred to Malaysia where he was a director of the local Merchant Bank before finally taking over the Chief Executive position until his retirement.

He chose to pursue a legal career in his late years by attaining his Bachelor of Law Degree with the University of London and then completing his Certificate of Legal Practice and pupillage with Bodipalar Ponnudurai De Silva and managing the Corporate Department of the firm until October 2013.

Donny is actively involved in the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee’s Corporate & Conveyancing Committee and contributes to the trainings and seminars conducted for members of the Malaysian Bar.

Since 2023, Donny has also been appointed as a committee member of the Disciplinary Board of the Bar Council of Malaysia and was elected as Chairman for some disciplinary cases heard.

June Siang’s legal practice commenced with his pupillage at Raja Darryl & Loh before practising at a boutique law firm, Badrul Lee & Associates. He started his own legal practice as the founding partner of June Siang & Partners before merging with Donny & Hong to form Donny & Ong of today.

He has extensive experience in advising, negotiating, structuring and documenting acquisition and disposal of business transactions, including advising on transaction structure, addressing complex legal issues, rights and liabilities of parties and methods of completion. He also advises on general corporate and commercial matters.

As part of his contribution to the profession, he was the Deputy Chairperson of the Corporate and Conveyancing Practice Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee for two consecutive terms (2015-2017).

Gillian began her legal career in 2010 at Adnan Sundra & Low and continued to garner various mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital market experience. In 2013, she left to join Christopher & Lee Ong, an associated firm of Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP and was subsequently offered to join Donny & Ong as a partner in 2017.

Throughout her years of practice and her stint with Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, Gillian dealt with equity capital market matters as well as corporate exercises which include mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and initial public offerings (IPO) in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. She was also involved in other capital market transactions such as rights issue and take-over offers as well as general corporate commercial related advisory matters.

Si Xuan began her legal career at Adnan Sundra & Low, where she completed her pupillage and developed her practice within the firm’s Conveyancing Department.

She possesses substantial experience in real estate transactions, banking and finance documentation, and property law advisory in Malaysia. With her knowledge of property law and regulatory frameworks, she provides practical and solution-oriented legal advice to individuals, businesses, and developers, ensuring smooth and compliant transactions.

Before joining Donny & Ong, she further expanded her expertise as an in-house legal advisor at a manufacturing company, where she offered corporate legal service and advisory support. This role enhanced her commercial insight and strengthened her ability to deliver legal solutions that align with business goals.
